Miramar residents to fight Wal-Mart superstore on rural site

MIRAMAR--Plans to build a Wal-Mart Supercenter on the northeast corner of Miramar Parkway and Flamingo Road have set off a firestorm of opposition from nearby homeowners, who vow to fight it.

Residents of adjacent Monarch Lakes received notice of the store's plans this week. Many said they didn't see it coming and thought the site was better suited to smaller stores.
